NEWBURY hosts a cracking afternoon of racing on Saturday, with the Super Sprint the feature event.
There are some blinding supporting races, too, so we have got you covered with a race-by-race preview and top tips.
Race 1 – 1.50 bet365 Stakes (Listed)
This is a good opportunity for the promising FOX CHAIRMAN to get his head back in front.
The classy three-year-old has caught the eye in strong company the last twice and if he can repeat the level of his never-nearer second behind Sangarius at Royal Ascot that should be good enough.
Easy Sandown winner Pondus is the chief threat, and he will be suited by the return to 1m2f having failed performed below expectations in the 1m4f King Edward VII Stakes last month.
First Nation has to concede weight to the aforementioned pair but he is the pick of the remainder.
SELECTION: Fox Chairman
WATCH OUT FOR: Pondus
Race 2 – 2.25 Marsh Cup
I was very keen on the chances of Hermoso Mundo at a big price in this contest, but if the forecast thunder storms materialise it could hinder his chances.
One who would relish any rainfall is THE GRAND VISIR, who won in good style on testing ground at Royal Ascot over 2m4f.
The drop back to 2m is no concern and he still has untapped potential as a stayer.
Carnwennan was dominant in the Northumberland Vase three weeks ago and he still looks well-treated off a mark of 94.
Withhold makes his belated reappearance and commands the utmost respect, for all he will need to be at his very best to win this first time out.
Northumberland Plate first and third Who Dares Wins and Proschema are also closely considered, while Chester Cup hero Making Miracles ran better than the bare result at Newcastle last time.
SELECTION: The Grand Visir
WATCH OUT FOR: Hermoso Mundo
Race 3 – 3.00 bet365 Hackwood Stakes (Group 3)
The Tin Man hasn’t run badly so far this season, but the triple Group 1 winner could be vulnerable to the younger legs of KHAADEM here.
Charles Hills’ smart three-year-old was an impressive winner over C&D two starts ago (beating Oxted) and he is worth another chance back at this track after he finished seventh in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.
If the rain comes then Snazzy Jazzy would have a big chance for the Clive Cox team, while Projection and Donjuan Triumphant are both better than they’ve shown this year and shouldn’t be discounted.
SELECTION: Khaadem
WATCH OUT FOR: Snazzy Jazzy
Race 4 – 3.40 Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes
He is incredibly short given the size of the field, but VENTURA REBEL is the one they all have to beat.
The colt ran a screamer to finished a close second in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot (winner looks smart), form which is by far and away the best on offer.
His trainer Richard Fahey has farmed this race in recent years, with three winners in the last six renewals, and he goes on any ground.
Emten belied her 80-1 starting price to finish fifth in the aforementioned Norfolk and she ought to run well for Jamie Osborne.
Electric Ladyland is interesting in first-time cheekpieces for two-year-old supremo Archie Watson, while market support for first-time-out winners Odyssey Girl and Never In Paris should be taken seriously.
SELECTION: Ventura Rebel
WATCH OUT FOR: Emten
Race 5 – 4.10 bet365 EBF Novice Stakes
HELLO BAILEYS wasn’t beaten far when fourth behind a useful type at York last week.
He will have learnt plenty from that experience and can open his account at the second attempt for his in-form yard.
Good Earth has run well all three starts but needs to take a step forward to find the back of the net.
Written Broadcast is worth a place on the shortlist, while the pick of the newcomers is Kingman colt Fox Duty Free.
SELECTION: Hello Baileys
WATCH OUT FOR: Good Earth
Race 6 – 4.45 British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap
You can completely ignore the heavy Sandown defeat of the luckless LUSH LIFE.
The talented filly was all dressed up with nowhere to go in a hot race at the Esher track and was eased down when it was clear she had no chance of winning.
She can gain compensation here at the chief expense of Listen To The Wind, who is 2lb higher than when finishing a narrow second at Bath.
Red Starlight has some strong form to her name and also commands respected now dropped in class.
SELECTION: Lush Life
WATCH OUT FOR: Listen To The Wind
Race 7 – 5.20 Grundon Recycling Handicap
MAKZEEM caught the eye when an unlucky eighth at Newmarket last time out.
He was making good headway along the far rail when he was stopped in his tracks. He has slipped to a decent mark.
Glendevon is better than he has shown of late and he is the likeliest danger to the selection.
In-form pair Raydiance and Cliffs Of Capri won’t be far away either.
SELECTION: Makzeem
WATCH OUT FOR: Glendevon
