"Many Photos" - Glorious Goodwood day two: Goodwood tips, racecards and previews for the meeting this Wednesday

GLORIOUS Goodwood continues apace with the Group 1 Sussex Stakes the feature on day two.

There are some superb supporting races, too, and we have got you covered with a race-by-race preview and top tips.

PA:Press Association

Race 1 – 1.50 Unibet Goodwood Handicap

TIMOSHENKO looks a blot on the handicap in the day two opener.

His trainer Sir Mark Prescott is firing in the winners at present and this lightly-raced stayer, who beat the now 109-rated Austrian School on his last start, could be thrown in off 81.

Lil Rockerfeller won by the length of Chichester high street in this contest 12 months ago.

He is a mammoth 17lb higher in the weights this time around, but he remains the main danger.

Royal Ascot winner The Grand Visir will appreciate this step up in trip having finished seventh in a muddling race at Newbury.

He also holds solid claims, while Northumberland Plate runner-up Dubawi Fifty is greatly respected with that reappearance under his belt.

The progressive pair True Destiny and Early Summer are worth a place on the shortlist.

SELECTION: Timoshenko

WATCH OUT FOR: Lil Rockerfeller

Race 2 – 2.25 Unibet Handicap

A cracking three-year-old handicap in which FUTURE INVESTMENT gets the nod.

Ralph Beckett’s progressive gelding was a beaten favourite when third in a good race at Down Royal last time out.

But he was denied a clear run at a crucial stage, so his run is worth marking up, and Tuesday’s rainfall was most welcome.

Hat-trick seeker Le Don De Vie bolted up at Epsom when last sighted and he is a clear danger of 10lb higher.

Sir Ron Priestley holds the strongest claims of Mark Johnston’s trio, while it would be no surprise to see Three Comets in the mix following his gelding op.

Kosciuszko and Eminence are also worth considering in a fiercely competitive heat.

SELECTION: Future Investment

WATCH OUT FOR: Le Don De Vie

Race 3 – 3.00 Markel Insurance Molecomb Stakes (Group 3)

The market has this between Liberty Beach and Maven, but AIR FORCE JET could provide some value.

He beat subsequent Windsor Castle Stakes Southern Hills three starts ago and he put an Ascot flop behind him with a good second at Tipperary last time.

Liberty Beach was undeniably impressive at Sandown on her latest outing, but she is at her best on quick ground and her speed could be blunted a tad.

Maven carries a penalty for his Group 3 success in France but he will pose a big threat is let loose under Frankie Dettori.

Dr Simpson showed bucket loads of speed when opening her account at Chester. She is another to consider alongside runaway winner Navan Alligator Alley.

SELECTION: Air Force Jet

WATCH OUT FOR: Liberty Beach

Race 4 – 3.35 Qatar Sussex Stakes (Group 1)

A cracking race in prospect.

Too Darn Hot regained the winning thread with a dominant success over 7f in France last time.

The return to a mile and deeper company poses a question, however, so I would want to take him on at short prices.

PHOENIX OF SPAIN ran the sting out of his rival when dominant from the front in the Irish 2000 Guineas earlier this year.

He was ridden too negatively when sixth in the St James’s Palace Stakes last time, but trainer Charlie Hills has said they will be positive now and reports have been positive around his build-up.

Everything went right for Circus Maximus in first-time blinkers in the aforementioned St James’s Palace, and there is a suspicion he will need to raise his game to follow up.

Lord Glitters won the Queen Anne last time out but he may struggle to concede weight to some classy youngsters.

Group 1 winner Zabeel Prince will appreciate the drop back in trip and is interesting at a big price.

SELECTION: Phoenix Of Spain

WATCH OUT FOR: Zabeel Prince

Race 5 – 4.10 Alice Keppel EBF Fillies’ Conditions Stakes

FLIPPA THE STRIPPA has a penalty to defy, but she is the one to beat.

She was a comfortable winner of the National Stakes at Sandown back in May and she was far from disgraced in the Queen Mary on her latest outing.

Mighty Spirit has yet to win in five starts but she arrives on the back of a good third in the Super Sprint.

She is the main danger ahead of Daughter In Law.

SELECTION: Flippa The Strippa

WATCH OUT FOR: Mighty Spirit

Race 6 – 4.45 British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap

A wide-open contest but NEAROOZ could well be ahead of her mark.

She was a luckless second behind Ocala at Chester last time, and this well-bred daughter of New Approach is surely better than her current rating.

Any number of dangers, including Naqaawa who showed good wheels when winning on her return to action at Chelmsford (had the promising Vivionn back in fourth).

Lady Of Shalott and Mannaal arrive on the crest of a wave and command respect, while it would be no surprise were Thimbleweed to improve as a four-year-old.

SELECTION: Nearooz

WATCH OUT FOR: Naqaawa

Race 7 – 5.55 New & Lingwood Handicap

LYNDON B was transformed by the first-time visor when winning easily at Leicester 13 days ago.

There is clearly a big engine under his bonnet and a 7lb rise could prove very lenient.

He has drawn well in stall four and the booking of Frankie Dettori (25% strike-rate for George Scott) bodes well.

Light And Dark is likely to be all the rage in the betting after his taking Newmarket win, but that race rather fell apart so he needs to step up again.

Ambassadorial is better than he showed in the Bunbury Cup, while the same can be said of York flop Aljady.

Keep an eye out for Glendevon at massive odds, for all his wide draw isn’t ideal.

SELECTION: Lyndon B

WATCH OUT FOR: Light And Dark
