CHRIS Evans has revealed he wants to die at the age of 86, which leaves him just 33 years to live.
The Virgin Radio Breakfast Show host was discussing mortality with his co-hosts today in light of a study about reducing the risk of heart attacks, when he admitted what he thought would be a good age to go.
He said: “Taking statins after 75 nearly halves risk of having a heart attacking, on the front page of The Times today.
“I wouldn’t want to do that, I don’t want to half the risk of a heart attack after 75, I’m happy to head towards my declaration. I’m looking to 86 or 87. Vassos?”
Vassos Alexander replied: “Yes about the same, 87”
Rachel Horne wasn’t so sure, saying: “I don’t know, maybe a bit later. Things might have changed, we don’t know what life will be like in 30 years.”
Chris interjected saying: “We don’t, but here right now, pick a number”, which led her to pick 92.
Earlier this year the radio star revealed he was changing his will to include his co-hosts.
He revealed: “I was in denial for ages before I thought about it and accepted that we are not going to be here forever. I am completely at ease with it – I don’t fear death at all.
“I am going to change my will today off the back of this to include a percentage for – I am not quite sure what percentage – for the ten people I work with closest to at the time of my death or closest to the time of my passing. Vassos, you are in.”
He added, jokingly: “Of course if I mysteriously disappear you will now all have motives.”
Chris worked with Vassos on his BBC Radio 2 show and the sports reporter moved with him when he returned to Virgin this year.
Newsround presenter Rachel also worked on the Radio 2 show doing the travel news.
Chris Evans, 53, hosts the much-loved radio show every weekday morning from 6.30am, as well as Sundays at 10am.
