What happened in the Love Island 2019 final?

After eight weeks of savage dumpings, countless recouplings and plenty of cracking on the finalist of Love Island enjoyed one last hurrah at the Summer Ball.

But before the remaining Islanders hit the dance floor they were given dance lessons, with some taking to the moves like a duck to water – Curtis Pritchard – and others looking like a baby deer on ice –Tommy Fury.

In the Beech Hut, Tommy reflected on the dancing masterclass, with him saying: “Everyone has got that looseness about them but I can’t grasp it. The other boys are like elastic bands and I’m just a brick!”

Meanwhile, Ovie Soko joked that the 20-year-old professional boxer moved “like he is walking in cement.”

Later that day, Maura Higgins received a text, which read: “Girls. It’s now time to go dress shopping! Please get ready to leave the villa. #boujeebabes #tryingiton.”

Heading out of the villa, the girls tried on dress after dress to find the perfect outfit to wear for the Summer Ball.

Once they found their finale look the women began to pen their ‘declaration of love’, while the men did the same back in the villa.

At nightfall, the boys, who were suited and booted, waited for their lady to arrive in the villa’s garden.

As the girls entered the compound, one by one, the guys were blown away and the four couples toasted to reaching the final.

Then, the couples made their declarations to each other, with Curtis and Maura the first of the pairs to go.

Turning to the Irish grid girl, the professional dancer began: “Once upon a time, there was man on a journey.

“He had one goal in mind on his journey of crazy events. That goal, was to find a princess. This princess wasn’t just any princess, she was the most beautiful princess in all the lands…”

When it was Maura’s turn she touched on Curtis’ previous relationship with Amy Hart, who quit the show after he dumped her.

Greg O’Shea, on the other hand, chose to write a poem for Amber Gill and how they first met.

The professional rugby player rhymed: “I’m going to keep this short and sweet, just like when we first came to meet.

“Up in the Hideaway sheltered from the trouble, we instantly connected and formed our own little bubble…”

In response the beauty therapist credited the Irishman for bringing a smile back to her face after Michael Griffiths broke her heart.

She gushed: “It would be fair to say that I’ve had quite a journey in the villa this summer. There have been so many highs and then some lows, but then along came Greg.

“Thank you for helping to build me back up. You’ve always been so sweet and lovely to me and you’ve managed to bring out my soft side…”

When it was Tommy’s turn he threw his cards to the floor and instead freestyled his speech to Molly-Mae Hague.

Tyson Fury’s brother, stated: “This isn’t me. I want my heart to speak to you, not my mouth. From the first moment I walked up into the Hideaway, I instantly knew I had seen the most beautiful girl on this entire planet. You’re absolutely everything I’ve ever wanted in a girl…”

After the declaration ceremony the four couples showed off their moves and samba around the garden, before jumping in the pool.
