A SPEEDY seagull has been hailed as the world’s fastest after flying from the Channel Islands to Spain in a week.
The winged wonder averaged 75 miles a day as it made the 520-mile journey.

The lesser black-backed gull, which had been ringed by bird experts, was seen on Burhou Island, off Alderney, on July 17.
Seven days later it was photographed and identified at Ares Beach in A Coruna, northern Spain.
Alderney Bird Observatory said it could have been tempted to fly faster at the thought of nice food over there.
Spokesman John Horton: “We’d expect them to reach about 50 miles a day, max.

The sightings come as the search continues for chihuahua Gizmo — snatched by a gull on July 21.
Distraught owner Rebecca Hill, 24, said her boyfriend saw her pet being picked up and flown away from her garden in Paignton, Devon.
