JURGEN KLOPP hopes Bruno Fernandes’ transfer to Manchester United collapses after the £67million Sporting Lisbon midfielder dazzled against Liverpool.

The Portuguese international scored and set one up against Klopp’s men in a 2-2 pre-season friendly.

Lining up against Fernandes has been a regular threat for Premier League clubs all summer, with United linked with the 24-year-old throughout the window.

Anfield boss Klopp admitted the transfer is “not nice” for the club, with Fernandes due to strengthen Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

He said: “Bruno Fernandes to Manchester United? If he [signs for Man Utd] then we will face him. He’s obviously a really good player.

“They have already a few really good players, so that will probably make them stronger.

“It’s not nice, but [United’s transfer dealings are] not our cup of tea, to be honest.”

Fernandes is increasingly interested in a move to Old Trafford, despite prior interest from Champions League finalists Tottenham – who instead signed Tanguy Ndombele.

However, Sky Sports report United bosses are ready to look elsewhere in their pursuit for a central midfielder this summer.

With unsettled midfielder Paul Pogba admitting he wants out of Manchester this summer, Fernandes is joined on a list of potential replacements.

Christian Eriksen, Ivan Rakitic, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, and Sean Longstaff are among those linked with United.
