Swedish Prime Minister Löfven had previously acknowledged that Trump 'has a personal interest in the case' and said he would welcome a conversation with the US president, but stressed that Rocky would not receive special treatment.

Last week, Trump said he 'personally vouched' for A$AP Rocky's bail in a phone call with Sweden's Prime Minister, following a vow to secure the rapper's release following a plea from Kim and Kanye.

Trump tweeted that he had enjoyed a productive call with Löfven, revealing that the pair set to talk again after the weekend about Rocky's legal woes.

'Just had a very good call with @SwedishPM Stefan Löfven who assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly,' Trump's tweet began.

Likewise, I assured him that A$AP was not a flight risk and offered to personally vouch for his bail, or an alternative....Our teams will be talking further, and we agreed to speak again in the next 48 hours.'

Löfven said earlier he was aware Trump 'has a personal interest in the case,' but added that while he would welcome a conversation with Trump, it was not his place to sway the prosecutors or courts.

The announcement came just hours after Kanye West is said to have called the president through a direct line that he has to the Oval Office, urging Trump to take action

It's claimed that West wanted to get 'personally involved' with A$AP's case but instead sought help from Trump, with whom he's consistently voiced admiration for publicly.

'Just spoke to @KanyeWest about his friend A$AP Rocky's incarceration,' Trump tweeted on Friday night.

'I will be calling the very talented Prime Minister of Sweden to see what we can do about helping A$AP Rocky. So many people would like to see this quickly resolved!' he wrote.

Melania Trump also said she would be working with the State Department to try to bring him home.

'We'll be working with the State Department and we hope to get him home soon,' Melania told reporters in the Oval Office while celebrating the anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

It was a rare comment on a diplomatic and political situation from the first lady.

President Donald Trump said he is also trying to help the rapep, who has been held for another week by investigators. But added that the first lady was the one who brought Rocky's plight to his attention.

'Many, many members of the African-American community have called me, friends of mine, and said can you help. I personally don't know A$AP Rocky but he has tremendous support from the African-American community in this country,' Trump said.

'When I say African-American, I think I can really say from everyone in this country because we're all one. I have been called by so many people asking me to help A$AP Rocky. Actually the one who knew about A$AP Rocky was our first lady. Right? She was telling me about,' he added.
