EASTENDERS star Jake Wood has seen RED on social media – and likened being mocked by ginger taunts to experiencing racism.
The soap star has been left ruddy-faced after posting a fiery rant on Twitter about the colour of his hair.
The 47-year-old actor has had enough of people being ‘bullied’ and ‘teased’ due to the colour of their hair and argued it is not ‘socially acceptable’.
He took to Twitter to vent his ongoing frustration with being constantly ridiculed for being his own shade of strawberry blond.
The actor who plays Max Branning in EastEnders said: “Bulls***. I’m calling this out.
“Why is it socially acceptable to take the piss out of someone for the colour of their hair and not for the colour of their skin?!
“All gingers have experienced being teased and bullied.
“I’m not even joking Ginger Parrot UK. I’m happy to lead the army.”
The screen heartthrob asked for the back of Ginger Parrot UK – a website which supports redheads and curates red-head specific news, and beauty and fashion advice.
The pro ginger camp support ‘All things nice and gingerful for redheads and ginger lovers alike.’
They responded positively and commented: “Let’s start a red-volution!” alongside a meme of Disney’s Brave with the fiery redhead heroine striding into battle.
The former Strictly Come Dancing star is keen to start a campaign to combat the bullying and prejudice ginger people are accustomed to.
Supporters of his idea agreed with him, with some fans commenting: “The same people that are racist against people of colour are the same ones who are calling out people because they have ginger hair…
“I totally agree with you and I hear you and it’s great that you’re taking the stand and because it’s not acceptable not acceptable at all.”

Another keen supporter wrote: “I’m with you and sometimes it is not in a harmless fun way.
“There can be a real nastiness about it, but if you stand up for yourself, you are in the wrong because, as you say, it is acceptable.”
Another fan remarked: “My nephew had abuse growing up and got things thrown at him by strangers for being ginger. I love ginger hair#stopthehate.”
While other less forgiving people took the opportunity to continue mocking his cause.
One threw a cheap punch by writing: “Heat getting to you, Ginge?”
