Bruce Lee's daughter has slammed her late father's portrayal in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood saying the portrayal comes across as a caricature, and it reminds her of how 'white Hollywood' treated him when he was alive.
Shannon Lee, who is an actress and martial artist like her father, said it was 'disheartening' to see how Lee was depicted by Tarantino in his new film.
The 50-year-old told The Wrap that Lee had to work hard as an Asian-American in order to succeed in Hollywood in the 1960s.
'He comes across as an arrogant a**hole who was full of hot air... and not someone who had to fight triple as hard as any of those people did to accomplish what was naturally given to so many others,' she said.

'It was really uncomfortable to sit in the theater and listen to people laugh at my father.'
Actor Mike Moh plays Lee in the film and is shown fighting in one scene with Brad Pitt's fictional character Cliff Booth.
Pitt's character is the stuntman for Leonardo DiCaprio's character Rick Dalton.
Shannon said it was possible that Tarantino was trying to portray how her father was stereotyped in Hollywood but she says it didn't come across that way in the film.
'I can understand all the reasoning behind what is portrayed in the movie,' she said.
'I understand that the two characters are antiheroes and this is sort of like a rage fantasy of what would happen… and they're portraying a period of time that clearly had a lot of racism and exclusion.

'I understand they want to make the Brad Pitt character this super bad-ass who could beat up Bruce Lee.
'But they didn't need to treat him in the way that white Hollywood did when he was alive.'
Shannon said she works hard to maintain her father's legacy through the Bruce Lee Foundation, which hosts martial arts summer camps for children.
But she claims that was all 'flushed down the toilet' due to his portrayal in Tarantino's film because it 'made my father into this arrogant punching bag'.
Shannon also believes that Moh, who is a Lee fan, was directed to be a 'caricature' of her father.
She did, however, say that Moh perfected Lee's mannerisms and voice.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set in late 1960s Los Angeles and stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a TV actor and Brad Pitt as his longtime stunt double.
Margot Robbie co-stars as Sharon Tate, the actress murdered by Charles Manson’s followers in 1969.
