WESTMINSTER terror attack ‘hero’ Tobias Ellwood was dumped from Government yesterday as Boris Johnson brought his reshuffle towards an end.

The Defence Minister – vehemently anti-No-Deal – was booted out as the PM sought to fill out 19 more junior ministerial roles.

Mr Ellwood shot to fame for giving PC Keith Palmer mouth-to-mouth in a bid to save his life in the 2017 terror attack. The ex-Army captain was pictured with blood on his face as others fled the danger.

Revealing his dismissal yesterday, he said that “like many, I was invited back to the bankbenches”.

And he warned a No Deal Brexit would leave the Tory party in the “abyss” of opposition for a decade.

The former Army officer said: “I have been very much of a view and have been vocal to say I think a deal is possible given the numbers and where we go.

“But ultimately you can see the make-up of this Government, it’s for a particular challenge and I think it’s the Prime Minister’s decision, the make-up of the team, to meet the particular challenge of the day.”

The move came as Lord Nick Bourne, Faith Minister and Parliamentary Under Secretary for Wales, resigned over the risks of a cliff-edge exit.

He revealed he had been offered the chance to remain in post but he “cannot accept a No Deal on October 31st – and so I go”.

Among yesterday’s appointments, Theresa May’s ex policy chief George Freeman was made a Transport Minister. And Baroness Goldie, a former leader of the Scottish Tory Party, was brought in as a Defence Minister.
