THE Queen allowed Kate Middleton to break royal protocol by taking photos at Balmoral, a royal author has claimed.
In her biography Kate: The Future Queen, author Katie Nicholl claims The Queen made the exception for her future granddaughter-in-law during her first ever visit to the Royal Family’s home in Scotland.
She wrote: “Until now The Queen had met Kate only fleetingly at the wedding of Peter and Autumn Phillips but she went out of her way to make her feel welcome, giving her permission to take pictures at Balmoral.”
Even before she married into the Royal Family in 2011 and became patron of the Royal Photographic Society, Kate has always been a keen photographer and was allowed to take photos of the family during their private holiday away from the spotlight.
While it might not seem like a big deal to the average person, the biographer claims that this was a huge sign of approval from The Queen.
She added: “As a woman who has lived her entire life in the public eye, the Queen rarely lets her guard down.
“And few apart from her family and closest friends get to see the real Elizabeth.”
The Queen’s castle in Balmoral is where she spends her summer holidays every year, away from her royal duties in London.
What’s more, Katie has also previously claimed that The Queen has taken Kate under her wing by giving her feedback on the outfits she wears for her royal duties.
And although she initially disapproved of Kate’s lavish lifestyle before she became a Duchess, The Queen also helped steer Prince William’s wife in the right direction by suggesting she started getting involved in charity work.
Kate still remains a talented photographer and releases stunning photos of her three young children to celebrate their birthday every year.
