HIT the back of the net with DEFOE in today’s King George.
Roger Varian’s ace will find it tough to beat Enable but looks a cracking each-way bet in a classy contest.
Cheval Grand 4/5
Could be a Grand surprise. Top-class Japanese performer who performed with plenty of credit when finishing second to Old Persian out in Meydan in the Sheema Classic. Could be underestimated.
Crystal Ocean 4/5
Crystal can shine. Unbeaten this season and notched up his first Group 1 win when landing the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot. Steps back up to 1m4f and went so close in this 12 months ago. This race is far stronger though, but one for the shortlist.
Defoe 5/5
Defoe can score. Roger Varian has had to be patient with this five-year-old but he is finally fulfilling his potential as shown when landing the Coronation Cup and the Hardwicke Stakes so far this season. Looks a big each-way price and can make the frame.
Hunting Horn 1/5
Not a happy Hunting ground. Been used as a pacemaker recently and that looks likely to be his role once again. Talented colt but his chances look set to be sacrificed for a stablemate.
Morando 1/5
No Mor. Form leaves him with plenty to find and has already found Defoe miles too good for him twice this season. One to dismiss in this classy field.
Salouen 3/5
Sal could be your pal. Talented performer who would need there to be plenty of rain to trouble the market principles, if there is, then he has a chance but looks set to be playing for the minor honours.
Waldgeist 3/5
Don’t get carried away with Waldgeist. French raider who hasn’t quite brought his a-game to the table when leaving his home country. Beaten fair and square by Crystal Ocean last time out and hard to see the tables being turned here.

Enable 5/5
What can you say. Superstar filly who is obviously the most likely winner. Not a betting prospect at odds-on but could leave all her rivals treading water behind her.
Magic Wand 2/5
No Magic tricks here. Smart filly but has failed to get her head in front for over a year now. Form leaves her with a bit to find in this field and she isn’t the stables’ first string.
Anthony Van Dyck 4/5
Van man. Derby winner who finished second in a mad race at the Curragh last time. Better than the result suggested and could serve it up to the big guns here. Each-way shout.
Norway 2/5
No Way. Produced his best performance to date when third in the Irish Derby last time out but looks to be facing an uphill task to get on terms with this field today. Oppose.
