"Many Photos" - Gas explosion blasts through block of flats, injuring three people in south-west London

At least three people have been injured in a gas explosion in Wandsworth, south-west London, this morning.

Police were called to a block of flats in the area at 7.25am and found a wall on the tower had been damaged by the blast.

The London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade remain at the scene, where the wounded are being treated.

Sergeant John Nicolaou from the Metropolitan Police said: 'At this stage we believe up to three people have been injured as a result of what is believed to be a gas explosion. 

'We await a full update on their condition. The Health and Safety Executive will be informed in due course and the Gas Board are at the scene now. All emergency services continue to work together at the scene along with the local authority.'
