MAKE a splash by the pool without blowing your holiday budget.
Some designer brands charge hundreds of pounds for swimwear you might only wear a few times a year.
So CIGDEM TANRIOGLU has trawled the High Street for the best designer dupes – and she asked model Emily Richards, 27, from North West London, to compare the quality and fit and picks her winner.
But can you tell your high-end from your High Street? The answers are below.
1. Black one-shoulder
Designer £150, Haight – buy now
High Street: £15, boohoo.com – buy now
Saving: £135.
Emily says: “These look very similar but I prefer the more expensive version because it has thicker, more flattering fabric and feels more comfortable. The Boohoo version is a bargain but the top feels like it is sliding down.
“And the fabric on the bottoms keeps bunching up.”
Winner: Designer
2. Red Floral
Designer: £120, Ganni – buy now
High Street: £25.99, New Look – buy now
Saving: £94.01.
Emily says: “I can hardly tell the difference between these two, though the fabric on the designer version is slightly thicker and feels a bit nicer. They both feel really comfortable and the floral pattern is almost identical, so there really is no need to spend more on the designer one.”
Winner: High Street
3. Leopard print
Designer: £195, Fisch – buy now
High Street: Top, £20. Boux Avenue – buy now
Briefs, £16, Boux Avenue – buy now
Saving: £159.
Emily says: “The high street wins when it comes to this little number. I’m loving animal print at the moment and the cheaper style’s pattern looks a little more vibrant. The Boux Avenue version provides a bit more coverage in the bust and feels more comfortable when moving around. The designer version has elasticated straps that can’t be adjusted to suit you.”
Winner: High Street
4. Red scalloped edge
Designer: Bikini top, £150, Marysia – buy now
Briefs, £150, Marysia – buy now
High Street: Bikini set, £26, missyempire.com.
Saving: £274.
Emily says: “I can’t get over how similar these look. The expensive version is made from a much thicker fabric so feels like it would last.
“Plus the Marysia version is reversible. It can be worn with a red and white check, so you get two for the price of one.”
Winner: Designer

5. Polka dot bandeau
Designer: £379, Lisa Marie Fernandez. – buy now
High Street: Top, £30, figleaves.com – buy now
Briefs, £16, figleaves.com. – buy now
Saving: £333.
Emily says: “The cheaper version is hands-down the best thanks to its built-in cups, which offer way more support than the designer style, making it far more flattering.
“And buying the high street style means I have enough change to book a flight or two.”
Winner: High Street
