"Many Photos" - Arsenal in talks to flog flop Shkodran Mustafi… but he wants to stay and prove himself

ARSENAL are reportedly in talks with a number of clubs regarding a deal for Shkodran Mustafi.

The 27-year-old German international defender is under contract until 2021 and wants to stay in North London.

But according to BBC’s David Ornstein, Unai Emery wants him out either permanently or on loan in order to make room for new additions.

Arsenal are on the verge of completing a move for Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.

The Ivory Coast star was in the capital today to finalise his £72m transfer.

But Emery is also looking to strengthen his defence and the departure of Mustafi would leave him short with the Premier League kick-off less than two weeks away.

Captain Laurent Koscielny is desperate to leave the club while new boy William Saliba will spend this season on loan at St Etienne.

Monaco have been linked with a swoop for Mustafi, who arrived for £35m in 2016 from Valencia.

L’Equipe claim they were told by the Gunners he would cost them £27m.

The World Cup winner has made several big errors throughout his time at The Emirates and it appears it will not only be the club’s supporters who would be happy to see him leave.

Striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang does not seem too upset by that possibility either after he “liked” an Instagram post suggesting Mustafi could be joining Monaco.

However, earlier this year Mustafi outlined his desire to stay when quizzed about his future by German football magazine Kicker.

He said: “It is odd that there are always transfer speculations.

“I am an Arsenal player and have a contract until 2021.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ‘liked’ this post on Instagram linked his team-mate with a move to Monaco
