A Tennessee town has been on edge for nearly a week as police continue their manhunt for a suspected murderer who is believed to be heavily armed.
Montgomery County authorities are searching for Kirby Wallace, 53, who is wanted for two murders in the area, three home invasions, burglaries and arson.
Residents reported sightings at two homes in Woodlawn Wednesday night and police now believe they are closing in on the suspect with the help of helicopters, thermal technology, search dogs and more than 100 officers.
For now, residents are told to call police if they want to leave or return to their house and children are being escorted to and from school until he is caught.

Kirby Wallace's string of violent crimes began Sunday September 23 during a deadly home invasion in Indian Mound.
Wallace is suspected of two murders, burglaries, arson and home invasions
Teddy and Brenda Smith, 63, came home from church that day to find Wallace burglarizing their house.
Wallace allegedly stabbed Teddy three times and shot him in the head, grazing his scalp.
He then stabbed Brenda once before hogtying the couple and setting the house on fire.
Teddy miraculously survived while Brenda later died from her injuries.
Wallace got away with between $5,000 and $20,000 cash he stole from the home.
Police suspect Wallace is also behind the deadly morning shooting of a man Monday October 1.
The victim has not been identified, but police say Wallace was later seen driving the man's stolen truck.
The truck was recovered Monday and investigators now believe the suspect is on foot.
Wallace is thought to be armed with a magnum revolver, semi-automatic long rifle, 12 gauge shotgun and a hunting rifle.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol warns residents not to confront Wallace but instead call 911 and wait for law enforcement to arrive.
The Montgomery Sheriff's Office is now on its sixth day of the manhunt for Wallace
At least 100 officers, search dogs and helicopters have joined the search

Wallace is wanted on charges of first-degree murder, felony murder, aggravated arson, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary and theft of property.
Investigators are using thermal imaging equipment to scour a wooded area where they believe Wallace could be hiding in a cave or a tree.
More than 100 law enforcement officers from across Tennessee, search dogs, and deputies in Montgomery and Stewart counties have joined the massive search.
Neighborhoods have been closed off, leaving residents unable to return home as police search the area.

Stan Hembree, of Woodlawn, Tennessee, was alarmed when found a dry sleeping bag and blanket on his 100-acre farm while on a perimeter check with authorities this week.
He told MSN he hasn't gotten sleep in two days since the evidence of Wallace was found on his property.
'Everything is locked up,' he said. 'My wife is staying in the house. I've been up two days straight.'
A reward of $7,500 is being offered for information leading to Wallace's capture. Anyone who spots him is asked to call 1-800-TBI-FIND
Residents say they are armed in the event of a Wallace sighting.
'I wish he'd come into my yard. I'd shoot him,' area resident Rich Grossman said.
Debbie Castro, also of Woodlawn, said she couldn't return to her home for hours Wednesday.
'I couldn't come home! I called my friends I said 'I'm homeless,' Castro told News Channel 5.
'I had my son in law wait out here so I could water the plants,' she added. 'This guy is elusive as a butterfly.'
Susan Niland with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation suggests to contact friends and relatives within the search area.
'If you haven't heard from them in the past 24 hours, please contact them and check on them,' she said.
