New photo Late Night writer celebrates Brett Kavanaugh's tainted reputation

A writer for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert issued an apology Sunday after she was slammed on social media for taking pride in Brett Kavanuagh's tainted reputation.

Ariel Dumas wrote on Twitter, after Republicans secured the votes needed to confirm Kavanaugh Saturday: 'Whatever happens, I'm just glad we ruined Brett Kavanaugh's life.'

Dumas was forced to set her social media account to private shortly after she received backlash for her remark. She also seemingly deleted the tweet from her page.

'The last couple of weeks have been hard for the country and for me personally,' the screenwriter followed-up in a tweet.

'The complexity of frustration, anger and sadness can’t be accurately conveyed on twitter, and I regret my tone-deaf attempt at sarcasm in the wake of it.'

The late night hosts appeared to have run out of opener steam on the subject of Kavanaugh this weekend.

On Friday night, with Kavanaugh's confirmation all but certain, only Bill Maher cracked forceful jokes on the subject in his opening monologue, speaking on his HBO show Real Time.

Hosting a weekly show, Maher had jokes stored up on the saga, which the network hosts had been hammering hard daily.

'They're going to do it, they're going to confirm Justice Red Solo Cup,' Maher said. 'And I'm going to join the Beach Week Ralph Club.'

'This is how you run a train on Democracy, ladies and gentlemen,' Maher said.

'This guy is a liar and was a huge drunk,' Maher opined.

'And the FBI report was a sham. They interviewed all of nine people. Trump said, "Can I get these guys [to investigate] my crimes?"'

The FBI asked 11 people for interviews and spoke with 10 for the limited probe into sexual misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh.

The probe found no corroborating witnesses for Christine Blasey Ford's claim that Kavanaugh groped her and pinned her down in 1982, when they were both in high school.

Kavanaugh has denied the allegation repeatedly.

On CBS, Late Show host Stephen Colbert admitted: 'We have been talking about Kavanaugh since 1954, I think' before moving on to 'less depressing news'.

The show did produce a mock ad for 'Kavanaugh beer' - boasting of its 'great drinkability and supreme judgability.'

'It's the perfect beer for the judge who doesn't want to be judged. No calories, no answers. That's Kavanaugh,' the mock ad touted.

On NBC, Live host Jimmy Fallon did not mention Kavanaugh, and Jimmy Kimmel's Tonight Show on ABC did not air on Friday.

The Senate voted 50-48 to confirm Kavanaugh, following another political saga that gripped the nation.
