He is one of the most sought-after actors in Hollywood.  

But Ryan Gosling's kids think he's among the stars in a different way.

The 37-year-old hunk appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday night as he revealed that his daughters, four-year-old Esmeralda and two-year-old Amada, believe he's an astronaut.

Gosling explained: 'They came to set. They came on this day where I was shooting a launch scene, so I was in the space suit and pretending to launch. 

'I think they think I’m an astronaut now. My oldest said the other day, she pointed to the moon and said, "That’s where you work, right?"'

Yum: The 50-year-old chat show host, who is a bit of an Italian food connoisseur in his own right, asked Gosling to describe the smoked mozzarella who said it tasted like 'an angel crying on your tongue'

'At one point this woman said, "There’s a tortellini in the freezer!" Then later on, almost towards the vows, another woman said, "There’s a smoked mozzarella in the fridge," and another woman went, "It’s from Naples."'

 The 50-year-old chat show host, who is a bit of an Italian food connoisseur in his own right, asked Gosling to describe the smoked mozzarella who said it tasted like 'an angel crying on your tongue.'

Earlier in the day he looked cool in  double denim, paired a short faded blue jacket with black jeans as he waved to adoring fans outside the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood as he arrived to film the chat show.

He finished the look in light brown suede moccasins, a black Halloween themed T-shirt and shades. 

In his upcoming project, First Man, Gosling takes on the role of the legendary astronaut Neil Armstrong.

He became the first man to walk on the Moon when he stepped out of the lunar module Eagle, launched from Apollo 11, on July 20, 1969.

Watched by an estimated half-a-billion people on TV, he walked down the ladder saying the now iconic phrase, 'That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.'     

First Man is said to be in the running of being nominated for Best Picture at the 90th Academy Awards, but official nominations for next year's Oscars ceremony will be announced later this year. 

The film is due to be released in the U.S. on October 11.
