TAKE a chance on MOKARRIS in the Unibet Cammidge Trophy. He had some proper form as a two-year-old.
His second behind top-class sprinter Blue Point – when Middle Park winner The Last Lion was back in third – shows what he was once capable of.
Whether he’s up to that level these days is doubtful but he won’t have to be to take this.
Problems kept him off the track for two years before finishing fourth behind speedy Kachy in a Lingfield Listed contest last month. With Simon Crisford’s team in great form he is worth a stab in an open race.
Invincible Army sets a good standard on last season’s form but he wouldn’t want the ground to dry out too much. Equilateral has stacks of potential but he does need to calm down a bit.

EXEC CHEF should serve up some profit in the Unibet Spring Mile. He won his first three starts after joining trainer Jim Boyle last summer and he was far from disgraced on his final start when 1m2f on testing ground stretched his stamina.
I’m pretty sure he’s still well weighted and Boyle doesn’t appear to be messing around with the booking of top jockey James Doyle.
Sod’s Law is another contender who was a progressive three-year-old last season. His form hasn’t worked as well but he remains a horse of great potential.
I’m more worried about Rampant Lion. He’s struck twice from four races since joining William Jarvis and he was good value for his half-length defeat of subsequent winner Poetic Force on Kempton’s all-weather.
Gulf Of Poets could have done with softer ground but consistent Dawaaleeb has claims on his best form.

CATCH the Starlight express in the Unibet Doncaster Mile. RED STARLIGHT progressed throughout last season.
After winning a couple of all-weather handicaps she stepped up to finish third behind smart Wadilsafa in a Sandown Listed contest.
She probably sat a bit too close to the strong pace that day and the drop to 7f on soft ground wasn’t ideal on her final start at Ascot but she still ran well to finish second.
Richard Hannon’s filly is just the type to have improved over the winter and I’ve no doubt she’s up to this level. Sharja Bridge is the one to beat. He came with a storming late run to land a hot Ascot handicap on Champions’ Day.
His rating alone gives him a great chance but the drying ground is not ideal. Despite holding leading claims there’s no way he should be odds-on and I’ve got to take him on at the prices.
I always thought Remarkable had the potential to develop into a Group horse. He missed the whole of last year and he’s left John Gosden to join Kevin Ryan.
This wouldn’t be the strongest Listed races but there has to be a chance he’ll need this comeback run.

IT’S time to Ring in the Flat with a sparkling Unibet Lincoln bet. BERINGER looks an ideal type for this dash down the Doncaster straight.
He spent last season running over further – never a bad thing for this season curtain raiser – and was hugely consistent.
Wins at Leicester and Sandown were followed by, perhaps, his best performance when runner-up to subsequent Cambridgeshire and Winter Derby hero Wissahickon at York. All those efforts came over 1m2f but he travels so strongly it could be that a big-field mile handicap is just what he wants.
In-form jockey Andrea Atzeni has been booked by trainer Alan King and I’m expecting a big run.
Hot favourite Auxerre could just blow the field apart. He’s no value in a race of this nature but the way he finished last season with a hat-trick of wins suggests he could easily be a Group performer.
Kynren has plenty of form in this type of race. He was third in the Spring Mile on this day 12 months ago and he’s weighted to reverse Sandown form with Chiefofchiefs when they fought out the finish a couple of months later.
Irish raider Saltonstall and Phil Kirby’s new recruit South Seas could do without the ground drying out. Zwayyan – winner of Wolverhampton’s Lincoln Trial – is another who would have been suited by softer ground.
Third Time Lucky hit the frame in that all-weather contest won by Zwayyan when he was a bit fresh. He does blow hot and cold but he would be a player if in the mood.
Top weight Another Batt arrives fit after some solid performances in Dubai. I’m not convinced 1m is his best distance.
Waarif did well last season winning four races. There’s no reason why he won’t run his race but the handicapper probably has him about right now.

MATTERHORN should scale the heights of the Matchbook Magnolia Stakes.
This is a strong Listed race but it’s hard not to have been impressed with Mark Johnston’s hope since he switched to the all-weather.
He completed a handicap five-timer by giving Executive Force – winner of both his subsequent races – more than a stone and a five length thrashing over today’s course and distance three weeks ago.
Stall one if not always the place to be on the all-weather but it should help this prominent racer get a nice position.
Last year’s winner Fabricate went on to run Crystal Ocean – runner-up in both the King George and the Champion Stakes – to a shorthead at Sandown last spring. He’s better than this grade but this year’s race is much deeper than it was 12 months ago.
Mootasadir has already got a Group 3 win on the board. I’m not convinced that Dundalk contest was up to scratch and the penalty he picks up for that success makes life tricky.
I’m more worried about Big Country.
He’s come up against top all-weather performer Wissahickon on his last three starts and he’s a consistent performer at this level.

I’M away with the Fairy in this competitive sprint handicap.
WHITEFOUNTAINFAIRY ran last year’s 1000 Guineas winner Billesdon Brook close as a two-year-old and she won first time out last season.
Andrew Balding even thought she was good enough to run in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal ascot but the step up to 1m was never going to suit.
She had excuses for her two runs later in the season and it means she kicks off this season with a nice weight. The switch to the all-weather is a slight concern but, if she does take to it, she must have a great chance.
Soldier’s Minute looked to love this surface when bolting up over today’s track and trip last week. Everything did drop nicely for him but there’s every chance that will happen today. A 10lbs rise might not be enough to stop him following up.
Alwasmiya looked a decent prospect when landing a Newmarket Listed prize as a two-year-old. It doesn’t worry me that she missed last year as in-form Simon Crisford is more than capable of getting her ready first time out but her form doesn’t look particularly strong even if she is at the top of her game.

PUT the Wind up the bookies in the Matchbook Rosebery Handicap.
DESERT WIND has got a great record on the all-weather. He rattled up a hattrick of wins early last year before going on to finish fourth behind subsequent Group 2 winner Ostilio in the Britannia at Royal Ascot.
We only saw Desert Wind once more when fourth at Newmarket’s July Meeting. He finished fourth – one place behind my Lincoln fancy Beringer – in a race not run to suit. If Ed Vaughan has him ready for this comeback run he should go very close.
Forbidden Planet has obvious claims. He won twice at Lingfield in January and was just outspeeded by smart Executive Force at Chelmsford. This race will suit him better.
Last year’s runner-up Kelly’s Dino is now 15lbs higher than 12 months ago. He certainly deserves the rise and he bumped into a good ‘un on his comeback run but it does mean he’s vulnerable to anything well handicapped.
Count Calabash made all the running to stuff Caspar The Cub at this rack last month. He’ll do well to repeat those tactics in this stronger field.
Manjaam is interesting on his first start for Ian Williams and tricky Cosmeapolitan could easily hit the frame at a nice each-way price.
