Two mothers who lost the father of their children in the Shoreham Airshow disaster have revealed how it has made them 'really good friends'. 

Tanya Hewstone and Georgina Brown, of West Sussex, were hit by tragedy when Daniele Polito — who fathered sons with both women — was killed in August 2015.

The 23-year-old was travelling with his friend Matt Jones on the A27 in the county when a 1950s Hawker Hunter involved in a stunt display smashed into the road.

It resulted in the death of 11 people - including Daniele and Matt.

Georgina, a healthcare assistant from Worthing, aged 19, had only just begun seeing the builder when he died, but a week after his funeral she learned she was pregnant with his second child, her first.

Tanya, from Rustington, had broken up with Daniele in 2014 following four years together and didn't know he had a new girlfriend.

Speaking to The Sun on Sunday, the mother-of-one admitted that whilst she wasn't jealous, she did feel territorial and was shocked.

The full-time mother also revealed that she put off meeting Georgina and her son Jaxson - now two - as she had reservations about how her son Georgio - now seven - was coping following his father's death.

'Georgio had become a very angry child and I didn't want Jaxson to be affected by it,' she explained, 'or for Georgio to try to understand how Daniele had a baby even though he's not here.'

'We met when Jaxson was five months old. They came to my house and I explained who Jaxson was. Georgio said, 'Oh I love him' and they sat on the sofa cuddling.'

And now, she added: 'The boys love each other and they will both be mini versions of their father. Though something terrible happened, something amazing has come out of it.

'Georgina and I have become really good friends. The boys have each other and so do Georgina and me.'

Andrew Hill had been attempting a loop when his Hawker Hunter jet exploded into a fireball on the A27. 

Speaking outside the Old Bailey following the verdict, Mr Hill read out the names of those who died and said: 'I'm truly sorry for the part I played in their deaths.'
