"Many Photos" - Hunt for gunman after man, 22, shot in east London as the capital's weekend of bloodshed continues

A gunman is at large following a shooting in east London early this morning, police have warned.

Police were called at around 2.50am on March 31 to Penrhyn Avenue in Walthamstow, to reports of a man suffering a gunshot injury.

The victim, a 22-year-old man, was found to have been shot twice, and remains in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the Metropolitan Police said.

A police cordon is still in place at the corner of Penrhyn Avenue and Penrhyn Crescent.

Scotland Yard confirmed no arrests have yet been made.

Enquiries are ongoing by officers from the North East Command Unit CID. 

The incident happened around three miles east of Edmonton, which saw four stabbings overnight.

Police are continuing their search for a man who is believed to have knife the four victims in a series of unprovoked attacks.

Two of the victims are still in a critical condition in hospital, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said.

The public have been warned to be on their guard following the stabbings.

The knifeman is described as a tall, skinny, black man, wearing a hooded top and dark clothing.

He approached all of the victims from behind in what police said were random attacks not linked to terrorism.

Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Smillie says the victims 'appear to have been selected at random' because they were alone and vulnerable.

Officers are warning there will be increased police activity in the Edmonton area of north London after the four attacks, which occurred over 15 hours on Saturday night and Sunday morning.
