"Many Photos" - McDonald's apologises after worker threw bucket of water over homeless woman, 19

McDonald's has apologised after a 'smirking' staff member chucked a bucket of water over a homeless teenager while she slept.

Georgia Kenny, 19, awoke in a sopping wet sleeping bag and soaking wet clothes to outside Leicester's Market Street 24-hour branch where she regularly sleeps because she feels safe.

The teenager, who was forced on to the streets when her relationship broke down, branded the worker 'disgusting' and is hoping her belongings dry before she spends another night in the cold.

She said: 'I woke up and could feel wet on the back of my leg. This [worker] was pouring a large bucket of water under me, wetting my sleeping bag and all my clothes', according to Leicestershire Live.

And, speaking of the accused staff member, she added: 'He doesn't like us homeless. He gave no explanation why he hadn't woken me.

'It's disgusting what he did to me. I sleep there because I feel safe.'

But although McDonald's has since apologised to Georgia, they appeared to contradict her story and claimed that she was asked to move.

A spokesperson said: 'We apologise for this incident. Although the person in question was asked to move by a crew member initially, we appreciate that more consideration needs to be shown in the future and we are addressing the matter with the employees involved.'

However, Georgia's allegations are backed up by a passer-by who claims that the fast-food chain worker made no attempts to wake the homeless teen.

Simon Clayton, 44, said: 'I could see the pavement was wet and as I got closer to McDonalds this guy smirked and chucked the water under the rough sleeper. He did not try and wake her up.'
