New photo Bikini designer, 29, reveals how she cleared her eczema in TWO weeks with a 'miracle' bath soak

It's part of Karina Irby's job as a bikini designer to test out the latest swimsuits down by the beach.

And for someone who suffers from severe eczema like she does, flare-ups can have disastrous consequences for your self confidence - particularly when you're baring all to thousands of fans.

Luckily the 29-year-old from the Gold Coast has been open online about the two-ingredient 'unicorn bath' she soaks in to help diminish the dry and itchy skin.

In a recent skin episode Karina tentatively shared a snap of her red and raw legs, as well as a photo of what they looked like two weeks later.

And the difference is startling.

'I have to soak in a bath whenever I can to help kill the natural bacteria I have on my skin,' Karina wrote about the bath water previously.

'For people without skin conditions it's fine, BUT bacteria and natural staph can cause flare ups for my eczema.

'I have to try and keep my natural bacteria to a minimum.'

The first addition to Karina's bath is pure coconut oil, which she says keeps her skin hydrated.

According to the bikini designer (pictured), potassium permanganate crystals, which you can 'pick up from your local chemist for less than $20', could be the answer

The most important ingredient is potassium permanganate, a chemical compound which kills bacteria on the skin's surface as well as in cuts and burns.

'You only need a tiny little bit [of potassium permanganate] - the goal is a soft pink bath.

'If it turns purple, you have done too much and it can turn your nails pink,' she cautioned.

Karina recommended soaking in the solution for between 10 and 20 minutes, and added there is no need to wash off after use.

'Just moisturise yourself and get on with your day or evening - done!

'I hope this helps a few of you too.'

What is potassium permanganate?

* Potassium permanganate is a common chemical compound that combines manganese oxide ore with potassium hydroxide.

* It was first developed as a disinfectant in 1857. Since then, it's been widely used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including fungal infections.

* When applied to your skin, potassium permanganate kills germs by releasing oxygen when it meets compounds in your skin. It also acts as an astringent, which is a drying agent.

* Some of the conditions that it can help include infected eczema, open and blistering wounds and athlete's foot.

It's not the first time the businesswoman has documented her struggle with the skin condition on social media.

'I can't believe I'm even publicly posting this,' she previously shared, alongside another photograph of her legs before and after using the crystals.

'This is a big deal for me and I even contemplated NOT sharing my three week eczema transformation out of pure embarrassment.'

However, in spite of her shame, the 29-year-old said she decided to because of her own experience as a teenager, 'struggling with my skin', without any help.

Karina went on to say that she was 'recently educated by a clinical dermatologist' who told her that she had allowed her eczema to 'evolve into a chronic, severe condition'.

Karina (pictured) said that while originally she was too embarrassed to post the photograph, she quickly thought back to her teenage years and decided that she needed to help others

'I was pretty upset and shocked that I'd let that happen,' she said.

'Honestly, I was just uneducated and didn't know how to treat my skin properly.'

Since she shared the photograph on Instagram the bikini designer (pictured) has received a wave of support, with others saying they can't wait to try the crystals
