"Many Photos" - Cotswold Chase runners and riders: Your pinstickers’ guide to the Cheltenham contest on Saturday

TERREFORT should Terre his field apart in the Cotswold Chase.

The classy grey could be the most talented of these if building on last year’s best form.

Although beaten a long way on seasonal reappearance, it came to light afterwards he’d sustained an injury.

That clearly wasn’t his true running and if he returns to the form that saw him easily land a Grade 1 at last year’s Aintree festival, he could be too good for this lot.

Daryl Jacob has chosen him over other the unexposed Munir and Souede contender, Valtor, and there’ll be no excuses this time for Nicky Henderson’s six-year-old.

FRODON 4/5

On the Frode again. Produced a blinder of performance to win a competitive handicap at this track back in December and has since been given a whopping rating of 169.

If that’s taken at face value then he really should win this, though there are doubts over this trip.

If he wants to be a genuine Ryanair/Gold Cup contender then he’ll need to come home in front, even under a penalty.

ELEGANT ESCAPE 3/5

Escape a loss. Welsh National winner is a classic Colin Tizzard stayer and this probably won’t be enough of a test for him.

He showed when second in the Ladbrokes Trophy that he’s liable to get outpaced in this kind of contest.

Has plenty of ability but looks worth taking on this time.

VALTOR 3/5

Low Valtage. Ten-year-old sluiced home in an Ascot handicap last time out on his British debut and even surprised his trainer.

The form of that hasn’t worked out well and considering his form in France, I’m inclined to believe he may have been made to look good that day.

He’ll need to prove he’s up to a new mark of 160 and I have my doubts for all that conditions will be ideal.

TERREFORT 5/5

Terre up the formbook. The dashing grey has all the hallmarks of a very talented animal.

You can put a line through his reappearance as he had an excuse and if back to his best then he looks the class act.

He was an impressive winner in Grade 1 company at the end of last season and wouldn’t need to improve much on that to land this.

ALLYSSON MONTERG 1/5

I Erge you to steer clear. On all known form he has too much to find here and even a repeat of an easy win in a Perth handicap last year leaves him with loads to find.

It’ll give the owners a nice day out but it would be a shock if he won.

MINELLA ROCCO 2/5

Off your Rocca. Has the best form thanks to a second in the Gold Cup in two years ago.

However, hasn’t produced a run like that since and will need to be at his best to win this off nearly a year’s absence.

It will be interesting to see if a wind op has made a difference but at the moment I’d advise a watching brief.
