A LOOTED Machu Picchu mask made from meteorites which could date back thousands of years has been found on Melbourne Beach in Florida.
Treasure hunters who found the ancient artefact hope it will lead them to a lost haul which could be worth £4.2 billion.

The ancient mask contains a precious metal, as an X-ray has revealed the presence of iridium, which is also found in meteorites.
Some experts believe the item was taken by Spanish tomb-raiders, and the piece of metal was part of a funeral headpiece from a pre-Incan civilisation in Peru, reported Fox35.
Dr Michael Torres, who found the mask, said: “This is some of the earliest evidence of man’s ability to metal work and to use iridium.
“That changes things, and may change the way we perceive ancient Peruvian cultures.”
The treasure hunters believe it was seized by Spanish Conquistador tomb raiders, and was part of a cargo of looted objects being carried to Europe, reported news.com.au.
Torres is currently working to recover items of historical significance and value from the shipwreck site of the Spanish galleon, La Concepcion.
The mask, which could date back to BC years, is believed to have been washed up from the vessel, which was a part of a treasure fleet wrecked by a hurricane in 1715.
The mask’s discovery has raised hopes an enormous treasure may lay buried nearby.
Torres told ClickOrlando the mask was part of a debris trail his team has been hunting for the past 11 years.
