THIS afternoon, Kensington Palace released Prince William and Kate Middleton’s annual Christmas card photograph – and adorable seven-month-old Prince Louis certainly stole the limelight.
But despite thousands of fans gushing about the young prince, others are confused with one item of his festive wardrobe – a pair of navy blue knit tights.
And although Prince Louis looks absolutely adorable, it seems some parents have opposing views on boys wearing tights.
According to Metro, one mum on Mumsnet wrote: “I have lots of years experience of wrapping up warm for football and I always wear tights under my jeans, which makes a world of difference.
“I was thinking of getting plain black girls tights for the boys to wear.
“DH says they’ll be scarred for life if I make them wear girls’ underwear, I say no-one will know, the boys don’t even have to know they’re meant for girls and it will be much cheaper than buying them boys thermals.”
And this afternoon, Twitter users have also been weighing in on Louis’ wardrobe, with several wondering why the young prince is wearing tights.
One wrote: “Is Louis wearing tights?!”
While another asked: “Why does Louis have on tights?”
Many royal fans were pleased to see the young royal wearing the item of clothing, with one explaining he was “carrying on the shorts trend with a twist”.
There is a significant reason why Prince Louis is in tights – while his older brother, Prince George is wearing trousers.

Etiquette expert William Hanson told Harper’s Bazaar: “It’s a very English thing to dress a young boy in shorts.
“Trousers are for older boys and men, whereas shorts on young boys is one of those silent class markers that we have in England.
“Although times are (slowly) changing, a pair of trousers on a young boy is considered quite middle class – quite suburban.
“And no self-respecting aristo or royal would want to be considered suburban. Even the Duchess of Cambridge.”

The photo is thought to have been taken in autumn, so it’s expected Kate added a pair of tights to Louis’ outfit to keep the young tot warm.
Kate teamed the knitted tights with gorgeous navy shoes and a powder blue ribbed jumper.
Kensington Palace also released an image of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which will appear on their Christmas card this year.
