Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex delighted royal fans by choosing an unseen wedding photo for their Christmas card this year. 

The couple, who tied the knot in May, are seen standing with their backs to the camera as they watch fireworks erupt over the grounds of Frogmore House, Windsor, where their evening reception was held. 

The dramatic black and white shot was praised by supporters, with one writing: 'This makes a great holiday card gives you a new year kind of feeling.' 

However others were disappointed not to see the couple's faces on the card.

The photograph was captured by Chris Allerton hours after the couple tied the knot at St George's Chapel. 

It shows them standing side-by-side, holding hands behind their backs, as they shared a private moment away from the commotion of the evening reception. 

The night sky above the 17th century royal residence, just a stone's throw from their new home of Frogmore Cottage, is lit up by the smoke and sparks of fireworks.

Meghan, 37, is seen wearing her stunning Stella McCartney gown while Prince Harry, 34, is pictured in his black tie eveningwear. 

The image drew hundreds of comments after it was shared on the Kensington Palace social media accounts on Friday. 

'It warms my heart to see how much they love each other,' one fan wrote. 

Another added: 'Such a romantic photo. Merry Christmas Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan.'

However others were unimpressed with the choice of the image.  One posted: 'Their backs are turned we can’t see their faces,' adding a sad face emoji.

Another wrote: 'I personally like Meghan and harry and really really adore them as a couple but this photo doesn't seem suitable for Christmas.'

The card was released today alongside one showing the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their three children. 

A third shows the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall gazing lovingly at each other in the grounds of Clarence House.
