THE WOMAN hit in the face by a Brooks Koepka shot at the Ryder Cup says she has been left permanently blind in her right eye.
Corine Remande, 49, says her ‘eyeball exploded” after being caught by the American’s drive on the sixth hole on the tournament’s opening day on Friday.
Medics rushed to her aid in front of concerned onlookers before she was taken to hospital.
She was later transferred to the Croix-Rousse facility in Lyon.
Now the female golf fan is planning to sue organisers after doctors told her she will never be able to use her eye right again.
Remande told AFP: “It happened so fast, I didn’t feel any pain when I was hit. I didn’t feel like the ball had struck my eye and then I felt the blood start to pour.
“The scan on Friday confirmed a fracture of the right eye socket and an explosion of the eyeball.”
Koepka, 28, rushed to check on Remande, who had travelled with her husband Raphael from Egypt, after hitting her with his drive.

She says she downplayed the incident in order to prevent the golfer from becoming distracted.
Kopeka later signed a glove for Remande and apologised to the stricken fan.

And after the match he said he felt terrible after realising what had happened.
Koepka said: “You don’t want to hit anybody in the face, especially not a woman, and it’s not a good feeling.
“I saw her. It looked like it hurt. She was bleeding pretty good. It looked like it hit her right in the eye so hopefully there’s no loss of vision.
“It’s not a fun feeling. I probably do it way more than I should. It seems just about every week we’re hitting somebody.
“It doesn’t feel good. You feel terrible for them. You know exactly how they are feeling, especially when you’ve got to go over to apologise because they are in pain, usually bleeding, and then to hit her in the face is not – you don’t want to hit anyone in the face, especially not a woman. I just wanted to get out of there.”
The European Tour, the co-organiser of the event, are launching an investigation into the incident.
USA went on to lose the Ryder Cup 17.5-10.5 to Team Europe.
A Ryder Cup spokesperson said: “It is distressing to hear that someone might suffer long term consequences from a ball strike.
“The spectator hit by a ball at the 6th hole during Friday’s play was treated by first responders immediately and taken to hospital. We have been in communication with the family involved, starting with the immediate on-course treatment and thereafter to provide support, helping with the logistics of repatriation, including providing a transfer for the family from Paris to Lyon. We will continue to offer support for as long as necessary.
“Ball strikes are an occasional hazard for spectators but this kind of incident is extremely rare. We can confirm that ‘fore’ was shouted several times but also appreciate how hard it can be to know when and where every ball is struck if you are in the crowd.
“We are hugely sympathetic and will do everything we can to support the spectator, insofar as that is possible under very difficult circumstances.”
SunSport can also reveal that Koepka and Dustin Johnson almost came to blows at the European team party after Sunday’s climax.
Witnesses say Koepka exploded with rage and threatened to flatten his close pal.
The Americans popped into the European team room to have a beer with their Ryder Cup conquerors.
But they ended up being pulled apart after a massive row which was all the more shocking given world No 1 Johnson and Koepka, who won two of this year’s four Majors, are so close off the course.
They work out together at a Florida gym and their similar big-hitting styles have seen them dubbed the “Bash Brothers”.
Johnson’s wife Paulina had previously prompted rumours of marital strife by deleting every picture of her husband from her Instagram account, but she is understood to have been close by when the flare-up erupted.
One of the European team WAGs also witnessed the incident. And another onlooker revealed Paulina was “clearly shocked and upset when it all kicked off”.
No one seems to have any idea what prompted the crazy bust-up. But tempers appeared to cool down once the pair were dragged apart and taken to “neutral corners” of the room.
