Motorway service stations are continuing to charge extortionate prices for diesel of up to 156.9p a litre despite a collapse in oil prices.
The net effect is that drivers pay almost £15 a gallon more to fill up compared to cheaper supermarket forecourts.
Last week, the major supermarkets began passing on a fall in the wholesale cost of diesel and unleaded.

Asda was the first to cut petrol prices by 1p and diesel by 2p a litre on Black Friday - a move that was matched by Tesco later the same day and Morrisons and Sainsbury's 24 hours later.
But while supermarkets are trimming pump prices to reflect falling oil and wholesale fuel costs, other retailers are slow to follow.
And this is particularly the case for motorway fuel stations, which are notoriously expensive and slow to pass on savings to motorists.
Service stations operators argue that the higher prices for fuel are justified by their higher rent, staff and business costs.
Just last month, research by the AA revealed that motorway service filling stations charge an average of 22p a litre more for fuel than supermarket forecourts.
And the price gap appears to be even greater for diesel.
It was revealed at the weekend that a MOTO chain was charging 154.9p a litre for diesel at services on the A1(M) at Washington, Tyne & Wear.
And the same chain of services was charging even more, 156.9p a litre – 20p more than the national average, in Lincolnshire.
Asda's latest price cut means drivers who fill up at its forecourts would be charge no more than 129.9p a litre.
That means the price gap has stretched to 27p between supermarkets and motorway services.
Based on the average family car having a 55-litre fuel tank, that's an extra £14.85 to fill up at a motorway service station.
