New photo Simon Cowell reveals he wants to bring back Celebrity X Factor – and get David Walliams as a contestant

SIMON Cowell is considering bringing back Celebrity X Factor as a special one-off series in a bid to raise money for charity.

The music mogul, 59, aired a version of the ITV talent contest in 2006 with a number of recognisable names as the contestants.

The X Factor: Battle of the Stars was won by former EastEnders actress Lucy Benjamin and also featured the likes of reality star and David Beckham’s former PA Rebecca Loos, James Hewitt, who had an alleged affair with Diana, Princess of Wales, and TV host Gillian McKeith, amongst others.

And while Simon previously told The Sun that the celebrity version was “pointless” and stated: “We are never going to do it again,” he now wants to revive it.

Simon told The Sun’s TV mag: “Celebrity X Factor wasn’t one of my favourite shows, but for some reason I do actually want to do it again.

“I’m hoping we’re going to do this soon. I’d like to mentor David Walliams!”

The X Factor, which has been on our screens for 14 years, pulled in 20million viewers at its peak and this year has drawn an average of 5million.

But ITV has reportedly extended its run for another three to five years, with Simon saying: ““ITV have been amazing supporters of this series and the fact they took a risk on it all of those years ago, I’ll never forget that.

“We share a common desire to always make the show better and bigger, and that’s why we’ve remained partners all these years. I think we’ve got to listen to ITV’s ideas.”

The final of this year’s X Factor airs on ITV this weekend.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”

Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”
