New photo Luiz Felipe Scolari slaps and kicks his Palmeiras players after they drenched him during title winning celebrations

LUIZ FELIPE SCOLARI never pulls his punches.

So when his jubilant Palmeiras players drenched him, he went SOUTH-POUR.

The former Chelsea and Brazil boss slapped and kicked his title-winning stars after they leapt out on him during a press conference.

It was all in good spirits, though.

And Big Phil, 70, even OUT-DANCED players half a century younger than him – despite shivering from the soaking they dished out to him.

Palmeiras clinched the Brazilian title on Sunday with a game to spare, thanks to a 1-0 win at Vasco da Gama.

It might be stretching a connection too much to say it, but the man who flopped at Stamford Bridge saw a player named WILLIAN tee up the decisive Palmeiras goal for fellow striker Deyverson.

So when Scolari faced the media to mull over the success, he was in joyful mood… even when his players suddenly appeared behind him to cover him in water.

Although he kept his traditional stony expression as he took the drenching, Scolari suddenly jumped up to dance.

His nifty moves would not have been looked out of place with the celebrations in Rio when he led Brazil to World Cup glory in Japan 2002.

SCOLARI'S UPS AND DOWNS

FEW managers have had sunch a long, twisting and twisted career as Luiz Sfelipe Scolari.

  • After an undistinguished playing career, largely wth Brazilian lower-league side Caxias, Big Phil became boss of his home-town club CSA in 1982.

  • Lifting the Alagoas state championship in his first season springboarded him to spells with numerous clubs, including in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, until he took over that country’s national team, winning the Gulf Cup.

  • He then bossed Brazilians Coritiba for JUST THREE GAMES –  losing all three and abandinging their bus in the last game to join the winning team’s coach, to never return.

  • Numerous other stints followed, even taking chage of Palmeiras from 1998-200, before peaked a one-year term with Brazil by liftin gthe 2002 World Cup.

  • He then took hosts Portugal to the Euro 2004 final – suffering a shock loss against Greece.

  • Scolari flopped at chelsea, lasting from just July 2009 to February 2009.

  • Then came Uzbekistani champions FC Bunyodkor =- before two years back at Palmeiras.

  • When Brazil called again in 2012, it seemed perfect timing – but the five-time World Cup winners endured the most humiliating defeat of their history, losing the 2-14 semi-finals 7-1 at home to Germany.

  • After bossing Gremio for a third time, Scolari led Guangzhou Evergrande to three Chinese Super League crowns in a row – returning to Palmeiras in 2016.

  • Scolari has won the Brazilian title twice – with Gremio in 1996 and now Palmeiras this season.

That momentous feeling, though, might have been partly drowned out in Scolari’s memory by the 7-1 beating Brazil took on home turf against Germany in the 2014 World Cup semi-finals, two years after he returned to boss his home nation.

And today, after wiggling his hips as he jigged, Scolari clipped one of his players round the ears – then delivered a smart, left-footed volley to the backside of another star.

After it all calmed down, Scolari was helped back to his seat by what seemed a caring player… who then planted a cheeky kiss on his manager’s bald head and ran off laughing.

With the type of career Scolari has had on the pitch, nothing like that should surprise him off it.
