UNAI EMERY is ready to freeze Laurent Koscielny out of his Arsenal plans until the wantaway captain ends his one-man strike.
Arsenal flew back from their pre-season tour of the States last night and will resume full training at the end of the week in preparation for Sunday’s Emirates Cup clash with Lyon.
But French international Koscielny, 33, will not be allowed to join in with the senior squad and has been told he must continue to train with the youth team.
Emery made it clear that he is no mood to back down in his escalating row with the club captain, who believes he should be allowed to leave Arsenal as a free agent.
The manager said after last night’s 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in Washington: “My idea is to continue working with the players that want to be here.
“I respect Koscielny but he has a responsibility to the club and now it is an issue only for him and the club.
“I have spoken about him with respect and I tried for him to be with us on our pre-season tour.
“We continue working to try to find a solution but he has decided not to be with us on the tour.”
And there were further defensive concerns for Emery last night when Shkodran Mustafi was unable to play due to a thigh problem while Ainsley Maitland-Niles suffered a calf strain in the warm-up.
Emery confirmed: “Ainsley felt some pain in his calf and we decided not to risk him.

“Our objective is not to suffer any injuries before the season and we decided he would not play.
“Mustafi is the same. He had some muscular pain so we didn’t play him.
“I hope it’s not a big injury. We decided it was better for him to rest.”
