"Many Photos" - Swedish prosecutors ask to hold A$AP Rocky in jail for ANOTHER week

Swedish prosecutors want to hold U.S. rapper A$AP Rocky in jail for another week because police haven't finished investigating a street brawl in Stockholm that he was involved in.

Prosecutor Daniel Suneson asked Stockholm's District Court on Friday to hold A$AP Rocky - whose real name is Rakim Mayers - until July 25 while they investigate him for aggravated assault.

A ruling is expected later on Friday.

The prosecutor said police 'have worked intensively' with the preliminary investigation but need more time to complete their probe.

Prosecutors have now asked to hold the 30-year-old until July 25. Video of the incident appeared to show Rocky violently throw a man to the ground, but footage he released shows him trying to avoid a confrontation (left and right)

The 30-year-old performer was arrested on July 3 shortly after midnight along with three other people after a street fight on June 30.

The rapper was in Sweden to perform at a music festival when he and his bodyguards were ordered to be held for two weeks while the investigation was carried out as he was considered a 'flight risk'.

One of his bodyguards was released later in the week.

The court had initially given the prosecutor until July 19 to decide on whether to press charges.

Videos published on social media show a person being violently thrown onto the ground by Rocky. It was not clear who else was involved.

The rapper has claimed he was acting in self-defense, reacting to the provocations of two young men who harassed and followed him and his entourage.

In the video, the rapper can be seen throwing one of the men into the street and then aiming several punches at him while he is down.

Rocky posted his own videos on Instagram on July 2 which he said showed the lead-up to the clash.

In those videos, the young man can be seen arguing with the musician over a pair of headphones. The artist repeatedly asks the man and his friend to stop following them.

One of the young men can also been seen hitting a member of the artist's entourage.

According to Swedish authorities, a separate investigation into assault and harassment committed by the plaintiffs is also ongoing.

The platinum-selling, Grammy-nominated artist has seen many celebrities including Kim Kardashian West, Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Post Malone, Sean 'Diddy' Combs, Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill come to his support following his arrest.

Soon after the news of his arrest broke, the movement #JusticeForRocky pushed for the rapper's release.

A petition calling for his release has also garnered half a million signatures. Adriano Espaillat, a New York Democrat in the House of Representatives, is also pushing for the release of the New York born rapper.

'Everyone deserves to be treated equally and A$AP Rocky's rights continue to be violated. It is not a fair process,' the congressman earlier said in a statement to The Associated Press.

Espaillat said he has been in contact with the State Department and the U.S. Embassy in Sweden and wants everyone to continue showing their support 'to help us in this process of getting justice for Rocky.'

Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West have lobbied President Donald Trump, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner in support of Rocky.

Kim thanked the president and senior members of his administration, saying on Twitter that their 'commitment to justice reform is so appreciated.'
