"Many Photos" - Royal Opera House designer admits killing his Australian fiancée by bludgeoning her to death

A Royal Opera House designer today admitted beating his Australian girlfriend to death with a metal bar at their London home.

Roderick Deakin-White, 37, had denied murdering Amy Parsons but pleaded guilty to manslaughter when he appeared at the Old Bailey.

Miss Parsons, 35, was discovered by police at the fifth-floor flat she shared with her fiancé in Whitechapel, east London, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deakin-White struck her several times with 'severe' force and later admitted to police what he had done, the court heard.

The couple are thought to have been together for at least six years.

Richard Carrey-Hughes, defending, said: 'There is to be a plea of manslaughter today that is the position.

'We are awaiting reports, there will certainly be a loss of control issue in the trial.'

Deakin-White appeared in the dock wearing a maroon top and grey prison issue trousers. He denied murder but admitted manslaughter.

The family of Miss Parsons in Melbourne had launched a $20,000 crowdfunding campaign so they can travel to England and bring her body home.

Deakin-White will face a trial lasting up to three weeks on October 28.
