THE rumours surrounding Manchester United’s attempts to sign Bruno Fernandes continue to go on with reports of another twist in the transfer saga.
The Red Devils have been linked with the Portuguese star for months as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer attempts to transform his squad this summer.
So far Sporting Lisbon have rebuffed all approaches from United for their free-scoring midfielder.
Now O Jogo claim the Premier League giants are finally going to make an official bid of £49m for the 24-year-old today.
But Sporting will reject that offer and will demand closer to £70m for the ace.
And that is in the hope it could start a bidding war with the likes of Liverpool and now Paris Saint-Germain keen.
Fernandes bagged 32 goals for Sporting last season and grabbed 18 assists in his 53 matches.
And his exploits even secured him a place in the record books.
Chelsea legend Frank Lampard found the net 27 times for the Blues back in 2010 – the highest tally for a midfielder in Europe.
But that figure was smashed by Fernandes – hiking up his transfer fee in the process.

He began his career in Italy with Novara before joining Udinese in 2013 and shone during his three years at the club until he switched to fellow Serie A outfit Sampdoria.
But he was only there for 12 months as he went on to sign for Sporting in a £7.5m deal.
He is under contract with Lisbon until 2023.
