A MAN is seriously ill in hospital after falling off his motorised skateboard and striking his head on the road.
Police launched an appeal for anyone with information about the 38-year-old skateboarder who was described as in a “serious” condition in hospital, to contact them urgently.
The incident happened on an unnamed road in the small village of Stoke Row, Oxfordshire as the man was riding an electric-powered skateboard.
A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously injured while riding an electric skateboard in Stoke Row, Oxfordshire.
“The incident happened on the main road, which is unnamed, in the village of Stoke Row on Wednesday, July 17 at about 7.30pm.
“The victim, a 38-year-old man, was riding his skateboard when it is believed he fell from it, causing him a serious head injury.
“He was taken to hospital by air ambulance for treatment where he remains in a serious condition.”
Investigating officer, Police constable Mark Dunne, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I am appealing to anyone who saw this incident, or who saw the victim using his skateboard prior to the collision, to get in touch.
“I would also like to speak to any drivers who have dash-cam footage relating to the incident. If you can help, please call Thames Valley Police on 101.”
The accident comes after man was critically injured after falling off an electric scooter in London.
