"Many Photos" - Fifty German teenagers storm a police station and try to break out their friend

A 50-strong mob of boozed-up German teenagers stormed a police station last night to try to break out their friend who was arrested at their school leaving party.

Officers at the precinct in the town of Stanberg, Bavaria, fought back the youths who lobbed glass bottles at the windows.

They stampede was sparked when one young party-goer was detained after he began demanding drugs and turned aggressive.   

Some 100 teenagers descended on the station before half of them then tried to free the boy, whose name was withheld in line with German privacy rules.

A statement from Bavarian police said: 'Only through a massive deployment could the situation on site be brought under control.'

Officers from nearby stations were called in to calm the youths, three of whom have been arrested and charged with attempting to free a prisoner and damage to property.

The 15-year-old boy later complained about headaches and was taken to hospital.
