Ms Symonds (pictured last Wednesday in Downing Street) will be living with Mr Johnson in Number 11
Boris Johnson spent the weekend with partner Carrie Symonds at Chequers, it has emerged.
The couple spent time at the palatial countryside retreat in Buckinghamshire ahead of their official move into Downing Street today, a source said.
Mr Johnson, 55, officially starts living at the PM's central London base today and Ms Symonds, 31, will be joining him, No 10 has confirmed.
But the couple are to move into the larger flat at 11 Downing Street instead of the premier's official residence next door, six days after taking power.
And Ms Symonds, 31, will be co-habiting with Mr Johnson in the spacious four-bedroom apartment vacated by Philip Hammond and his family last week.
Mr Johnson's deputy official spokeswoman said: The Prime Minister is officially moving in today. Yes, his partner will be living there.'
She declined to comment if Ms Symonds was moving in today as well.
But it is believed that Mr Johnson will be re-furnishing the flat out of his own pocket, with the deputy spokeswoman saying: 'There will not be any additional cost to the taxpayer.'
A No 10 source confirmed that Ms Symonds spent 'some' of the weekend at Chequers.

Ms Symonds, a former Tory spin doctor, will not have any publicly-funded staff working for her, Number 10 indicated.
The spokeswoman said: 'In relation to her living at Number 10 there won't be any additional cost to the taxpayer.'
They will be the first unmarried couple to officially live in Number 10.
The couple had been living together at Ms Symonds's flat in Camberwell, south London, until a well-publicised row recorded by neighbours last month.
The four-bedroom apartment above the finance minister's office has been home to PMs and their families since 1997, when Tony and Cherie Blair chose it over the two-bedroom flat above the more famous black door.
But while the Blairs (like the Camerons) had a young family, Boris, whose children are grown up, will share the spacious living quarters with only Ms Symonds, 31.
Mr Javid by contrast has a wife and small children, who may struggle to squeeze into the two-bedroom apartment above his new HQ.
It is believed however that they will stay at the large family home in Fulham which features added security since he was made home secretary last year.
The Camerons' flat featured billowing light and black-and-white Vogue-style family photographs and the kitchen was dominated by Nigella-standard units and surfaces

Last week Mr Johnson and his partner bought a £1.3million love nest after they were hounded out of their former home, MailOnline can reveal.
The Victorian semi-detached home is in Camberwell, south London and is less than three miles from the Houses of Parliament.

The move comes as the couple were reported to have had a series of explosive rows at the flat the they shared nearby in Camberwell, forcing neigbours to call the police.
Posters hostile to the new Tory leader were displayed at a park close to his home, saying neighbours didn't like him but would rather he stayed there than move into Downing Street.
The notices, emblazoned with Johnson's face, appeared on railings and declared: 'We'd rather endure him as a neighbour than our Prime Minister.'
Neighbours who live near the new home, which is around 2,000sqft in size, also expressed their dismay at Mr Johnson moving into the property. Earlier today one said they 'can't stand him' and hoped he would 'live somewhere else'.
