TOP Gear’s mysterious Stig has been unwittingly revealed — to be a woman.
It has long been one of TV’s biggest secrets, with the BBC car show’s petrol-guzzler always wearing a full-face white helmet and racing suit to hide who they are.

But the cat’s out of the bag after the mystery driver popped into a South Wales cafe in the quiet village of Pendine Sands and later emerged wearing dark jeans, brown boots and a navy jacket.
Pictures show the unnamed Stig attempting to hide the huge helmet beneath her coat after she clocks the cameras on the way back to her car.
While her colleague, who also looks a lot like a driver spotted dressed in the white getup, can be seen carrying a box clearly labelled ‘The Stig’.
A local told The Mail on Sunday that the cafe had been hired by a TV crew and that they saw the woman Stig climb into the driver’s seat of a car but “had no idea where they went”.

The pair were spotted after a day spent filming stunts on a nearby beach last week for the 27th series of the BBC motoring show.
Since presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May left Top Gear in 2016 there have been several Stig characters.
But this is thought to be the first time the Stig has been a woman in the programme’s 16-year history.
Clarkson has previously told how the original Top Gear trio’s new show The Grand Tour has a woman as their equivalent of The Stig.
A male colleague also emerged from the cafe, suggesting that The Stig may be more than one person[/caption]
