"Many Photos" - Netflix’s terrifying Abducted In Plain Sight could get a SEQUEL after viewers loved first one

DIRECTOR of Abducted in Plain Sight Skye Borgman revealed her hopes to make a sequel to the intense documentary.

The Netflix doc has left viewers in baffled since it arrived on the streaming service last month and now Skye told Vanity Fair that she would love to complete a trilogy about the extent of Robert Berchtold’s abuse.

Skye said she’d love, “to explore the different topics that we didn’t have time to really dive deep into, like the role that faith plays—maybe not even just L.D.S.—but the role that faith plays in sheltering communities.

“Also grooming and brainwashing—there are really interesting, intricate things that happen, and we touch on both of those topics in the documentary, but I’d love to explore those more.

She concluded: “I guess in a perfect world, it’d be sort of a trilogy of films.”

Abducted in Plain Sight recounts the story of Idaho teenager Jan Broberg, who was abducted twice and sexually abused by family friend Robert in the 1970s aged just 12 and 14.

After successfully manipulating her parents, Robert first fled to Mexico with Jan, where he attempted to brainwash her into believing she could save the alien race by having a baby with him.

Although, she was returned home to Idaho weeks later.

Despite the encounter, Robert abducted the teen once again and enrolled her in a Catholic girls’ school.

Skye revealed a shocking scene involving Jan’s mother Mary Ann Broberg (pictured)

He pretended to be her father in order to keep suspicions at bay, before Jan was eventually tracked down and returned home after she was missing for a total of 100 days.

The 90-minute-long feature boasts reenactments of the shocking events that occurred alongside interviews from Jan, her parents, Robert’s brother and an FBI agent assigned to the case.

Director Skye also told the publication that there were other parts of the Brobergs story that didn’t make the final cut.

According to the film maker, Jan’s mother Mary Ann and her brother allegedly met up with Robert in a parking lot and brought a gun with them.

However the detail, which hasn’t been given any context or time frame when it happened, was left on the cutting room floor along with an interview with a forensic psychologist, who helped give Skye a “professional read” on Berchtold.
