CLAUDE Puel says Kasper Schmeichel is happy at Leicester after showdown talks – despite his father Peter’s explosive claims he wants to quit.
The former Manchester United legend made the damning allegation ahead of Leicester’s last match against Spurs.
Schmeichel Snr also aimed at dig at Puel when he said : “Of course he wants to move away and try something bigger and challenge himself like any other football player.
“Once they get their act together it’s actually not a bad club.
“They’ve got good players, they just don’t have the manager who can get the best out of them.”
Those comments must have stung Puel, who had handed his keeper the captain’s armband at Wembley on the same day as his father’s astonishing outburst.
But the Frenchman revealed Kasper did not endorse his dad’s outspoken remarks and was happy with the direction the club was moving in under Puel, who has drastically slashed the average age of the team.
Foxes boss Puel said: “I have had a discussion with Kasper – not just about this but different things,
“Kasper is happy to play to play with Leicester and extended his contract a few months ago. He understands project and what we are trying to put in place. This is the most important thing for us.”
The Danish international signed a bumper new five-year-contract worth an eye-watering £100,000-a-week in August.
Puel refused to get involved in a war-of-words with Schmeichel senior, who has also admitted recently he would love to see his son follow in his footsteps by playing for Man United one day.

He added: “I’m sorry but I cannot manage other people outside the club,
“I don’t want to comment about people outside the club. It’s not my concern. I have a lot of respect for the former player and his career – I don’t know Peter personally.
“As I said I’ve had had good discussion with Kasper. He is our captain with Wes (Morgan). Always he has a good impact and influence on the team with good concentration.”
Puel appears to have welcomed the opportunity to address the issue with his experienced ‘keeper.
“I was happy about our discussion because I know I can count on him,” he said. “He understands the project and where we are at this moment and is happy with it.
“I want to keep a good feeling and this good relationship with my players and continue this work with them. We’ve made good progress, all we lack is a more clinical edge. Other people are not important.
“I do not need an apology from anyone. The most important thing is I am sure Kasper has the right attitude, concentration and motivation and is happy to play for the team and his teammates.”
