READING striker Nelson Oliveira is recovering from surgery after suffering gruesome facial wounds, the Championship club have confirmed.
The Portuguese international, 27, tussled with the Villans defender and ended up falling straight into his path.
Mings, who was accused of deliberately stamping on Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2017, planted his boot right on Olivieira’s face.
But the forward is said to be doing “well” in recovery after having the op following the 0-0 draw.
Reading tweeted: “Nélson Oliveira has had surgery today and is recovering well. We’d like to thank our medical staff, the paramedics, ambulance staff and all at the RBH for their exceptional work.”
Mings, 25, has since apologised to his rival – insisting the contact was accidental.
He said: “Absolutely loved wearing the claret and blue today and over the moon with the clean sheet! @AVFCOfficial.
“Feel awfully sorry to Oliveira, I hope he is ok.”
