ANDY Murray has been handed an evening match at the Australian Open as he attempts to bring down the curtain on his career.
The Scot, who plans to quit at some stage over the next six months, will face Spaniard Roberto Baustista Agut, the No.22 seed, in the first round from 6pm local time (7am GMT) on the Melbourne Arena.
If it proves to be the final match of his career, then Murray will welcome the fact it is a night-time scheduling rather than in the baking hot afternoon.
There are eight Brits involved in Melbourne
and seven of them play on the opening day. The tournament is being shown live on Eurosport and via the Eurosport Player.
Britain’s No.1 male tennis star Kyle Edmund is third up on the Melbourne Arena against Czech Tomas Berdych, a former Top-10 player.
For those scheduled to play in the morning and afternoon, they should feel hot under the collar as temperatures are set to rise to 35 DEGREES!
Harriet Dart will need to wear a hat and lots of sunscream as she is first up on the opening day with a plum tie against her hero Maria Sharapova.
The 22-year-old from London, who came through qualifying, is making only her second Grand Slam appearance.
This will be first up on the Rod Laver Arena – the Australian Open’s version of Centre Court – from 11am local time (12am GMT).
Katie Boutler will be on at the same time as she plays Russian Ekaterina Makarova on Court 12.

Jo Konta is the sole Brit to have an extra day’s rest and practice as she plays on Tuesday against Australian Ajla Tomljanović.
Let’s hope by the time she reaches the court she is not the sole Brit remaining!
Elsewhere Roger Federer plays Uzbekistani Denis Istomin in the evening on Rod Laver Arena on Monday. Rafa Nadal is second on the same court when he plays Australian James Duckworth.
Novak Djokovic’s match with American qualifier Mitchell Krueger is likely to get top showing on the Tuesday.

To achieve her kick-ass figure, Hayden – who plays cheerleader Claire Bennet in Heroes – follows the ‘quartering’ rule. She eats only a quarter of the food on her plate, then waits 20 minutes before deciding whether she needs to eat again.
Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”
Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”

Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
