NXT UK Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley will defend her title against Toni Storm tonight at NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool.
But the Aussie star also wants to be a part of the women’s Royal Rumble match later this month – one of the most anticipated events of the year.

Ripley said: “I haven’t been here in WWE two years yet. But to jump to that extent to being in the Rumble would be incredible. It would such a meaningful moment in my career.
“Being in the Rumble means that people are watching you. If you get Vince’s attention, it’s always good.”
Ripley won the championship after defeating Toni Storm on NXT UK last month – and tonight’s rematch is set to be one of the TakeOver highlights.
And though Ripley plays a hardcore heel on screen, the 22-year-old is still humbled to be in such a prime spot on the NXT UK brand.

Ripley said: “I’m the first ever NXT UK Women’s Champion – that’s just insane to me.
“And I’m excited to be part of the first NXT UK TakeOver and to defend my title. It’s been amazing to see how far everything’s come over here in the UK. It’s surreal.
“It’s great to see wrestling expand and get the attention it deserves. It’s such a great, great sport.”
The British scene has become so popular that yesterday WWE announced the opening of an all-new Performance Centre training facility in North London.

And now Ripley – who got her start in Adelaide-based promotion Riot City Wrestling – hopes to see the success of British scene replicated in her and Toni Storm’s native Australia.
Ripley said: “The Aussie scene was quiet when I was there but right now it’s absolutely booming. They’re getting wrestlers coming down from America to do shows.
“I’m excited to see where the Australian scene goes. And hopefully they’ll open a Performance Centre in Australia. I can see it happening.
“I would love it to see all the superstars down there get what they deserve.”

Ripley competed in this year’s Mae Young Classic tournament – which was eventually won by her rival Toni Storm – and made an appearance at WWE’s first all-women’s pay-per-view Evolution.
Ripley faced NXT superstar Dakota Kai in a match before the main show, which featured Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and others.
With women’s wrestling more exciting than it’s ever been, Ripley also wants to see WWE stage another edition of the historic show.
She said: “I’ve known Dakota Kai for a long time, so it was just electrifying.
“It’s not only important to us, it’s important to the women out there and it’s inspiring. This used to be a male dominated sport and now we have our own pay-per-view.
“I’m hoping they do it again next year. Everyone stepped up – we killed it.”
Watch NXT TakeOver: Blackpool tonight on the WWE Network from 7pm.

Hayden says: “I don’t have a model’s body, but I’m not one of those crazy girls who thinks that they’re fat. I’m OK with what I have.”
Nicollette says: “I don’t like diets – I see it, I eat it! I believe in eating healthily with lots of protein, vegetables and carbs to give you energy.”

Kim says: “I am no super-thin Hollywood actress. I am built for men who like women to look like women.”
