WEST HAM have seen a £6.5million bid for ex-Cardiff hardman Gary Medel rejected by Besiktas.
The Turkish club have snubbed the Hammers’ opening bid, but Manuel Pellegrini is desperate to add a little steel to his midfield.
Besiktas are in financial crisis at the moment, but have refused to sell the Chilean star on the cheap.
The Super Lig outfit have already released Portugal and Real Madrid legend Pepe and have said they’re willing to offload star man Jeremain Lens.
But West Ham will have to bid much more if they want to land Medel, 31, according to reports in Turkey.
The Hammers sent representatives to Turkey on Thursday in a bid to try lure the 114-cap Chile international back to the Premier League.
Medel spent the 2013-14 season at Cardiff, playing 34 of the Welsh side’s Premier League games – with the club relegated after finishing rock-bottom.
The former Sevilla tough-tackler then joined Inter Milan where he spent three seasons, before joining Besiktas in 2017.
Meanwhile, West Ham look sets to sign Samir Nasri after the former France international trained at the club during his 18-month doping ban.
Nasri was playing for Sevilla on loan from Manchester City at the time and was banned from playing football until the end of this year.
