THE late Rainbow presenter Geoffrey Hayes was one of the array of 70s stars who appeared in the video for the 2005 charity video for Is This The Way To Amarillo?
Beloved children’s TV presenter Geoffrey died today at the age of 76 after contracting pneumonia, his manager said.
He found fame in 1973 as the face of Rainbow alongside characters Zippy, George and Bungle.
Earlier he had starred in BBC1’s police drama Z-Cars — as well as landing roles in Dixon Of Dock Green, Softly Softly: Task Force and Harriet’s Back in Town.
Rainbow ran all the way up to 1992 and racked up a staggering 1,000 episodes.
But Geoffrey rekindled his stardom alongside other famous faces from TV past when he formed part of the line-up for the Comic Relief smash hit.
Peter Kay teamed up with 70s crooner Tony Christie to re-release the single with a now-classic video featuring a star-studded line-up of past telly favourites.
He appears in the video just after Kay features dressed as the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard Of Oz.
Alongside much-loved character Bungle, Geoffrey struts his stuff in a brightly coloured shirt beside grinning comic Peter.
It was a welcome TV appearance for Geoffrey, who had told of his disappointment at the lack of acting offers after Rainbow wrapped in 1992.
He had said: “Directors could only think of me as Rainbow’s Geoffrey”.
He appeared on panel game shows such as Never Mind the Buzzcocks in 2002 and Pointless Celebrities in 2015.
He also appeared in the 2000 TV documentary After They Were Famous.
He also starred in several pantomimes during the same period.

Hayes admitted in 2015 that he had spent four months working night shifts at a local supermarket stacking shelves.
He also worked several stints as a taxi driver. This was played upon in an ad campaign for Monster Munch he starred in.
Geoffrey passed away in hospital at the age of 76 on October 1.
His wife Sarah and son Tom were by his side.
