CELEBRITY Island viewers were left horrified tonight as Pete Wicks was bitten by a shark in a gruesome open water attack.
The Towie star was left screaming with pain after a nurse shark sank its teeth into him while he was out on a homemade raft.
He initially thought he had lost his finger in the gruesome open water attack.
The team had gone out to collect food and were checking lobster pots when Pete, 29, saw the shark trapped in a net,
He tried to free it, but the shark turned on him and bit his finger.
The reality regular was yowling in pain as he attempted to free himself from the shark’s jaws as help was called.
He managed to removed his finger from the shark’s mouth and was helped back to shore, where he was treated for the nasty bite.
When asked if it hurt, he joke: “Nah mate, it just tickled me”.
Pete was lucky not to lose the digit, and viewers flocked to Twitter to express their horror over the scenes.
However, many were appalled by the fact that the shark lost its life in the battle and ended up as the group’s supper – especially after the untimely death of Colin the pig last week.

It comes a week after animal lover Pete was left devastated after he tried to save Colin the pig from being eaten.
However, the poor animal ended up choking itself to death after he tied it up.
