She announced her engagement to David Waldeck in 2015, after placing third in the first season of The Bachelor.
And Ali Oetjen revealed this week why she ended her two-year engagement before returning to the franchise for Bachelor In Paradise in 2017.
Ahead of her debut as 2018's Bachelorette, Ali told OK! on Thursday there was an issue she 'wasn't willing to compromise on' that ultimately led to their split.

'I definitely gave [the ring] back. I couldn't keep it,' the 32-year-old account manager said of her decision to return the engagement ring to David.
Ali added that her ex-fiancé was reluctant to share his feelings, which caused problems in their relationship.
'I found it really hard,' she said. 'We both tried for a long time to work things out between us. I had to put myself first before another person.'

While the exact timeline of Ali and David's engagement is unclear, it was confirmed she was single again in late 2017 when she joined the cast of Bachelor in Paradise.
Just a month before filming began in November, she was still wearing a ring on her wedding finger.
Also during her chat with OK!, Ali claimed she didn't have a dream engagement ring in mind because 'a ring symbolises love, so I don't really care what it looks like'.

However, it seemed Ali was concerned with the appearance of her first engagement ring from David as she had it upgraded shortly after the proposal.
Ali even admitted to wearing a 'substitute ring' until she found the perfect Sapphire stone she wanted.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted David Waldeck for comment.
