A minister in charge of balancing Australia's finances is charging taxpayers $2,800 a month for home internet usage.
Assistant Treasurer Stuart Robert already receives a $326,025 and is entitled to a $32,000 a year electorate allowance.
Despite those perks, the 43-year-old Liberal minister from Queensland has been charging taxpayers $2,832 a month to connect to the internet his luxury, four-bedroom home with a pool on the Gold Coast.
He bought his hinterland house in Nerang for $1.29 million in December 2007, a month after he was elected to his safe Liberal seat at age 32, and his suburb is connected to the National Broadband Network.

Independent Parliamentary Expenses Authority data showed Mr Robert, who is also the member for Fadden, claimed $1,686.36 in March, another $2,704.55 in April and $2,831.82 in May.
His taxpayer-funded home internet bill in May alone cost $91.34 a day or $639.44 a week.
That is 12 times the cost of a typical, higher-spending Australian household's $55 a week internet bill, as quoted by the federal government's Study In Australia website.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted his office for a right of reply.

Assistant Treasurer Stuart Robert , who is on a $326,025 salary, charged taxpayers $2,832 for his May home internet connection
Mr Robert was sacked as a minster in February 2016 by former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull over his links to Chinese businesses.
He was reinstated to the outer ministry in August, under new Prime Minister Scott Morrison, three months after he stood up in the House of Representatives and called for billionaires to get a GST exemption for bringing $100 million super yachts to Australia.
Last week, he bizarrely took a selfie on Sky News at the start of a a live television interview, where he later confused Australia's debt with its deficit, under quoting how much the country owed by $332 billion.
No federal government has delivered a budget surplus since 2007.
