"Many Photos" - Double murderer who was one of just 70 prisoners told they would never be released dies in jail

A double murderer who was one of only 70 prisoners in Britain told they would never be released has died of cancer in jail aged 52.

Royston Jackson strangled teenager Stephen Raven to death in Essex in 1989.

Mr Raven, who was 16, had his clothes taken off before his death - with his underpants put on inside out and back to front.

Turkey catcher Jackson was also convicted of murdering sex offender Gordon Boon.

Jackson strangled Boon, 73, after the pair met at a probation hostel in Norwich.

He murdered him then dumped his body down a country lane two years after being released from prison for murdering Mr Raven.

Walkers found Boon's naked body in October 2008, dumped near the Bernard Matthews headquarters in Norfolk.

He also killed Gordon Boon, a convicted sex offender, in 2008 after the pair met at a probation hostel in Norwich, 19 years after his first murder

The pensioner had been to prison himself, for sex offences against a 13-year-old girl and another aged eight.

At first, police thought Boon's death was a vigilante killing, until they linked him to Jackson.

Both of Jackson's victims had been strangled and disposed of the same way and had a 'sexual overtone'.

He has died at the age of 52 in HMP Whitemoor in Cambridgeshire and was one of only 70 criminals told they would never be released from prison

The killer was convicted of Boon's death in 2010 at Norwich Crown Court.

A Prison Service spokesman said today: 'HMP Whitemoor prisoner Royston Jackson died in prison on 10 March 2019.

'As with all deaths in custody, there will be an independent investigation by the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman.'
